Mostly I've just been listening to a lot of Cat Power lately. Something about her voice is entrancing. It's just so rich and full of...idk, something. Lived In Bars has been particularly burning in my heart-soul of late, with it's happy-sad feel. Also the sexymophone. I guess to me it sounds most like the memory of joy, in a hometown bar she knows too well. I think it's supposed to be about her days of alcoholism. No wonder I'm so drawn to it.

Suit & Tie - Justin Timberlake
Okay, so I feel a little stupid about this one. I've been hearing it on the radio for a while now, but for whatever reason, assumed it was just some song from the 70's. Then I go to look it up and find it's freakin' Justin Timberlake. Can you blame me? It has all those super cheesy lyrics, and that Strawberry Letter 23 (maybe that's just me) sound to it. Also, I don't know if they just don't play the rap bits on the radio, or it's just really quiet...but I didn't ever hear that. Soooo, good job JT, I guess. I think the last thing I liked of his was Bye, Bye, Bye during the N'Sync era.

Your Cover's Blown - Belle & Sebastian
I am so obsessed with this song right now, which makes perfect sense. Everyone should always be obsessed with a Belle & Sebastian song. Your Cover's Blown has this cool funk to it that sort of takes a side-step into rock, and then returns to a classic B&S sweet sexiness. It's kinda the best.
No idea what it's actually about, but it sounds sort of like a lonely obsessive boy going out to the bars and meeting girls who are surrounded by too many friends. If anyone else has a better interpretation, feel free to throw it my way. I mostly just love the groovy sound, and of course, Stuart's smexxy voice.

Once Upon Another Time - Sara Bareilles
I am currently obsessed with this song for it's simple clarity and and powerful dynamics. Nearly 3 minutes of nothing but her gorgeously naked voice. The humming to me is especially striking as it sounds like she's singing a lullaby of childhood to herself.
I caught myself humming this tune out of the blue last week (I originally heard it some time ago) and have been listening to it almost every day since. There is something so sad and lovely about it that has been touching me in inappropriate places. Get me a doll and I'll show you where.

Buried - Family of the Year
This song by Family of the Year was on this week's episode of Being Human(US). I just really enjoy the lyric "bury me in my Chucks" and, well, pretty much the whole concept of the song is pretty entertaining. Pretty sure it's about being buried with the things you'd like to take with you to Hell. Obviously this song was perfect for Being Human, as it emphasizes Sally's decision on what to wear for her afterlife, because the whole first 2 seasons were her stuck in the pajamas she died in. Love it.
If I were a ghost, I'd definitely want to have died with my Chucks to show my laid back and yet lazily pretentious attitude to all the other ghosts. Oh yeah.

Oxford Comma - Vampire Weekend
I appreciate both the song, "Oxford Comma", and the grammar device known as the Oxford Comma. I'm in love with commas in general. I dislike grammatical ambiguity, what more can I say? The song is a surprisingly catchy motherfucker and often gets stuck in my head. Often. I think it's probably about breaking up with a pretentious girl who is constantly correcting everyone's grammar and etc...
Have I dated you, Vampire Weekend?
J/k, my grammar sucketh. Yet, I am still pretty consistent with the Oxford comma.

Band Love
I love when bands cover each other's music. Total band-love.
Even if it's not, like, the best cover ever.

Holes - The Jane Austen Argument
Lyrics written by Neil Motherfucking Gaiman! Love this song with my hole heart (puns! I got puns!) even if it is...extremely sappy and way too easy to turn into a horrible, horrible innuendo. Although, thinking about it now, maybe that was the intention? Anyway, everyone knows I'm a sucker for the ukulele. It's also nice to hear a band making heavy use of a piano again. The Jane Austen Argument is an anti-folk/cabaret duo from Australia. Pretty sure being friends with Amanda Palmer is how they got hooked up with some sweet writing from Neil Gaiman, but their non-Gaiman songs are good as well.
*When I am gone my darling dig me a hole. Let flowers grow above me and wild berries. Then laugh and forget me and before I'm cold, let someone who loves you fill your...hole*
Yeah...that was definitely intentional.

Two Weeks - Grizzly Bear
I super adore this song. It is very repetitive, but I don't feel like that drags the song down any. Also the Ohoh ohoh ohoh's totally tug my heart strings. The vid is a bit creepy though.

Best. Kiss. Ever.
Probably the girliest thing I will ever post, but it's February and in the spirit of Valentines Day and such. I just watched this episode of New Girl and obviously it was the moment every fan of the show has been waiting for. It's also the best freaking kiss I have ever seen on TV. I am in love with that kiss. Every girl needs a kiss like that. So, heads up guys, go kiss some ladies like you mean it!
Then Moonwalk away from her. Because that is the classy thing to do.
