The Abba Flu...or is it Mono?

For reasons unknown, I have recently been obsessed with Abba. I can't go a day without listening to either Take A Chance On Me or Dancing Queen. Crazy, I know, considering I used to loathe them. It appears that I am now quite fond of 70's pop. I may have to shoot myself soon.

On a slight side note, I'm very excited about Mama Mia! coming out. Hopefully it comes to the Humota before it hits DVD. God knows I am not shelling out $8 bucks to see it.

Love Me Dead - Ludo

Love me cancerously
Like a salt-sore soaked in the sea
'High-maintenance' means
You're a gluttonous queen
Narcissistic and mean

Kill me romantically
Fill my soul with vomit
Then ask me for a piece of gum
Bitter and dumb
You're my sugarplum
You're awful, I love you!

She moves through moonbeams slowly
She wears me down to bones in bed
Must be the sign on my head
That says, oh
Love me dead! Love me dead!

You're a faith-healer on T.V.
You're an office park without any trees
Corporate and cold
Gushing for gold
Leave me alone

You suck so passionately
You're a parasitic, psycho, filthy creature
finger-bangin' my heart
You call me up drunk
Does the fun ever start?
You're hideous and sexy!

She moves through moonbeams slowly
She knows just how to hold me
And when her edges soften
Her body is my coffin
I know she drains me slowly
She wears me down to bones in bed
Must be the sign on my head
That says, oh
Love me dead! Love me dead!

Wow! Uh!

[awesome guitar solo]

Love me cancerously
Brrrot-dot-da-d-da-da!
How's your new boy?
Does he know about me?
You've got the mark of the beast
You're born of a jackal! You're beautiful!

She moves through moonbeams slowly
She knows just how to hold me
And when her edges soften
Her body is my coffin
I know she drains me slowly
She wears me down to bones in bed
Wha' 'bout that sign on my head
That says, oh
Love me dead! Love me dead!
Oooooh, Love me dead!

Crazy addictive. Well, this song at least. The rest of their songs play out like something I would love when I was in 8th grade. Yes, they have a New Found Glory vibe with a Weezer-esque frontman. Nice harmonies, simple guitar chords, catchy lyrics. All in all, a good listen. Good Will Hunting By Myself is also quite amusing.

Guilty Pleasures...

These are just a few songs that I can't help but like. Not that I'm a music snob or anything, I just don't generally like some genres of music. These are the exceptions to my non-existent rules. Shhhhh, don't tell...wouldn't want people to think I wasn't cool...*coughs*

1. I Kissed A Girl - Katy Perry
In theory, I hate this song because girls like "I can't understand the concept of silence/I never shut up/won't somebody stick a dick in my mouth" Haley like this song. However, I can't help it. I blame the fascination on the over-simplistic lyrics and catchy tune. Also, the vocal layering is nice. I don't think I would kiss Katie Perry though, drunk or not.

2. Big Girls Don't Cry - Fergie
I can't lie, I'm secretly addicted to all of her songs. I love Fergie. Does anybody happen to notice the uncanny similarity between her eyebrows and The Joker's from batman? Anyone? Because I do, hardcore.

3. Hollaback Girl - Gwen Stefani
If I really had to be honest with myself, I would admit that, yes, I do like this song. Much for the same reason that I like The Song That Doesn't End. That's right, because I am a masochist. Personally, I think that Gwen Stefani was much better off as a badass bleach blonde (occasionally fuschia) hottie in a ska band, but whatever. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

4. Gangster's Paradise - Coolio
Man, early 90's, he was the shit. Don't look at me that way. Stop it.

ps. Michelle Pfiffer was super hot in that video. I'm sure that I would like it if I kissed her, cherry chapstick or no.

5. Cupid's Chokehold - Gym Class Heroes
Not that there's anything particularly embarrassing about liking the Gym Class Heroes, or the song. However, this just seems like a guilty pleasure song because it always makes me smile for no particular reason. Supertramp did the original version. I think, for once, I like the new version better. Not sure why, exactly. Maybe just because it is actually 5 billion times better? The world may never know.

Dirty Little Rabbits

What can I say about them? Well, driving home from Vinny's today, the song "You Say" by the Dirty Little Rabbits came on and I fell immediately head over heels. Also sweet is the fact that they come from Johnston, Iowa. This is cool pretty much only because I live in Iowa. Anyway, they are cool beans.

New Soul

I'm a new soul
I came to this strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit bout how to give and take
But since I came here, felt the joy and the fear
Finding myself making every possible mistake

La, la, la, la (21x)
La, la, la, la (21x)

See I'm a young soul in this very strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit bout what is true and fake
But why all this hate? try to communicate
Finding trust and love is not always easy to make

La, la, la, la (21x)
La, la, la, la (21x)

This is a happy end
Cause you don't understand
Everything you have done
Why's everything so wrong

This is a happy end
Come and give me your hand
I'll take you far away

I'm a new soul
I came to this strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit bout how to give and take
But since I came here, felt the joy and the fear
Finding myself making every possible mistake

New soul... (la, la, la, la,...)
In this very strange world...
Every possible mistake
Possible mistake
Every possible mistake
Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes...

My new favorite song of the month! This song is so happy, I just couldn't resist. However, everything that Yael Naim does is oddly intriguing, and I LOVE it. Seriously, she made me like a Britney Spears song.
