Love Is A Place

This song by Metric is just so lovely and sad. The music video is pretty beautiful as well, if not groundbreakingly original. I'm just really obsessed with it right now. I listened to it maybe 6.5 times yesterday at work. The title "Love Is A Place" reminded me of something, but it wasn't 'til someone posted the poem Love Is A Place by e.e. cummings on Songmeanings.net that I figured it out. Zing! right on the money. So I'ma post the poem here as well...just because I love it. Has nothing to do with the song, really. Well, not that I'm aware, anyway.

love is a place - e.e. cummings

love is a place
& through this place of
love move
(with brightness of peace)
all places

yes is a world
& in this world of
yes live
(skillfully curled)
all worlds

Rinko Kikuchi

Reason #2 I dyed my hair blonde. Because I saw this dark haired Asian girl do it and look super fly. Obviously I am not asian, but whatever, close enough.

Rinko Kikuchi has one of the coolest names I have ever heard, birthname Yuriko. Damn Japs, gettin' all the cool names. Possibly that was racist? But it was a total compliment. I love Japanese girls. And boys...yum!

Anywho, the first movie I saw Rinko in was Babel, which aside from winning a shitload of oscar crap, was also a pretty decent movie. Her character in particular was my favorite bit. Despite the black hair.

The only other movie I've seen her in is The Brothers Bloom, a cult classic which I totally own. I watch the crap out of that movie. I tape people to chairs and use that eye-opening apparatus in A Clockwork Orange on them.

In The Brothers Bloom she plays Bang Bang, an explosives expert who always wears the most fetching hats. Rinko gave a brilliant performance and made a lovable character despite only speaking three words the entire movie.

From the moment I saw her in The Brothers Bloom, I wanted to look just like her. Also I wanted the hats.

Devon Aoki

*God damn those half-JapanESE girls! They do it to me everytime.* - Weezer

Okay, so, aside from being the daughter of Japanese founder of the Benihana restaurant chain and former wrestler Hiroaki "Rocky" Aoki, Devon is awesome in her own right as a model/actress. Because, ya know, she's hot. She's also reason #1 for me deciding to go blonde.

I first noticed her in a magazine. I kid you not, I have a literal "loved her before she was famous" moment there. That basically never happens to me. The movie I would say launched her career was 2 Fast 2 Furious. Then, of course she played Miho in Sin City. That was really the peak of her career for me. How could you not love that lovely, badass gal? And According to Wikipedia (which never lies) Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is coming out in 2013, which is pretty damn exciting. To me, at least. Hopefully it's not a flop like most sequels in that genre tend to be.

In any case, MORE MIHO!!!! WoooHooo!
